A Renovation Project aiming enhancing the living experience in old districts , making up for the lack of old public facilities and reflecting the character of each district
THE RESEARCH
Key finding in an old district
called “ Bamboo Alley ”
-
Most residents in Bamboo Alley are elderly.
-
Residents want a public area to chat and plant.
-
The public area rarely take residents need into account. There is little seating there and a lack of lighting.

THE CONCEPT
Connecting all the Needs

This rest area can help residents to keep a good relationship with each other. At here, residents can chat, rest and plant. At night, the public facilities will provide sufficient lighting. The appearance of the facilities will reflect the theme of this district- “bamboo”.
THE CONCEPT
Sketch Iteration
The shape of the planter mimics bamboo. Between the two sections there is a filter plate that allows excess water to flow from the top section to the bottom section.
There are solar panels at the top of the planter, which can provide energy for the lights at night.

Idea 1 - Shared Planter

Idea 2 - Rest Area
The stools, tables and planters are all slender and flat columns to mimic the bamboo forest, which reflects the court theme- bamboo.
